FIDE Grand Swiss 2025 Full List of Qualified Players Announced

FIDE Grand Swiss 2025: Full List of Qualified Players Announced for Men’s and Women’s Events, Prize money

FIDE Grand Swiss 2025 is all set to begin from 3rd September, whereas the last day of the tournament is 16th September. It is a chess competition that helps the top players qualify for the Candidates tournament 2026. FIDE Grand Swiss 2025 Qualified Players Announced have already reached the 100 mark.

Samarkand in Uzbekistan will host the full event. This is going to be the first time that a reputable event will take place in Uzbekistan. We all know that Uzbekistan has produced a lot of great chess players, and chess is growing more and more day by day. Some of the best chess players from Uzbekistan are Nodirbek Yakubboev, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Javokhir Sindarov, and Shamsiddin Vokhidov.

The FIDE Grand Swiss 2025 will be played in an 11-round Swiss format. According to the Dutch system for Swiss tournaments, the pairings are made for the competition. The match is played in traditional time rule, the first 40 moves to be done in 100 minutes, and after that, 20 moves in the next 50 minutes, and lastly 15 minutes for the remaining game.

FIDE Grand Swiss 2025 Qualified Players Announced

There will be a total of 174 players participating in the FIDE Grand Swiss 2025. Eventually, we have two events, one is the Open event and the other is the Women’s event. As per the FIDE ratings, a hundred players have qualified for the open event, whereas 44 women players have qualified for the Women’s event.

Qualified Players for the Open event

Basically, the Qualified Indian players with the FIDE rating are Arjun Erigaisi (2782), Gukesh (2776), Praggnanandhaa (2767), Aravindh Chithambaram (2749), Vidit Gujrathi (2720), Pentala Harikrishna (2707), Nihal Sarin (2696), Raunak Sadhwani (2672), Karthikeyan Murali (2656), Abhimanyu Puranik (2622), and Aryan Chopra (2620). The list of qualified players includes players from across the world.

Qualified Women Players for the Women’s event

When we look at the women’s chess players who have qualified, the players from India are Humpy Koneru (2543), Harika Dronavalli (2483), Vaishali Rameshbabu (2481), and Divya Deshmukh (2463). Apart from the complete list of qualified players, there are also reserve players for the tournament.

What is the prize money?

As we move to the next edition of any sporting event, the prize money always increases. The reason for that is they market in they way. When we look at the prize money for the Open event, it is $625,000. This amount has risen by 36% as the prize money of the previous edition was $460,000.

The increase has happened with the prize money of the Women’s event as well. In fact, the increase in the percentage is more than the open event, which is 64%. This time, the prize money is $230,000, whereas previously it was $140,000.
