Root retains his place, and currently, he has become the second-highest run scorer in test cricket, going above the great Ricky Ponting. He bats in the middle order, and he surely is England’s greatest test batter. Root has scored two centuries in the ongoing test series against India. His career best ICC rating was 932. He also has a total of 38 test hundreds to his name.

Kane Williamson (867)
Williamson is the highest run-scorer for the New Zealand team in Test Cricket with more than 9000 runs. His career best ICC Test rating was 919, which came in 2021. Kane Williamson usually is the backbone of New Zealand and bats in the middle order. He has also retained his second position in the ICC test ranking. Kane has scored five double centuries in test cricket.

Harry Brook (834)

Steve Smith’s best ICC test rating is 947, which keeps him in the second spot for the best ICC test rating of a batsman. He has scored more than 10,000 runs in test cricket. Temba Bavuma (790)
The South African Captain, Temba Bavuma, played a very important role in helping South Africa win an ICC trophy after more than 20 years. He usually bats in the middle order.
Kamindu Mendis (781)
The Sri Lankan batting all-rounder, Kamindu Mendis, has gone up by one position in the ICC test batting ratings. There are a lot of expectations from the 30-year-old. He scored a knock of 87 runs in the first best match against Bangladesh, but the match ended in a draw. In the 14 matches he has played, he has scored more than 1000 runs in test cricket.
Rishabh Pant (776)

Ben Duckett (743)
The English opening batter has moved up five positions in the ICC Test rankings, keeping him at the 10th position right now. His best rating also came in this India-England series. He has also played a knock-out 149 runs in this series. Ben has played nearly 30 test matches for England and scored around 2700 runs, which includes six centuries.
