The eighteenth edition of the Indian Premier League ended on 3rd June, where the Royal Challengers from Bengaluru were the winners. This was the team’s and Virat Kohli’s first title since he started playing for the Bangalore team. The IPL 2026 Trade Window is now open for the next season, which will be the 19th edition of the Indian Premier League.
Eventually, the IPL Trade window for the next season starts just after the current IPL season ends. It basically starts within a week. The trade window opens just one week before the IPL Auction. Eventually, the IPL Auction happens for the upcoming season, 4-5 months prior to the season. There are two ways that teams can trade with each other: one, they can directly swap players, or two, they can also cash in for the player.
When we look at some of the trades of the previous years, they were fiery. The most expensive one was Cameron Green from Mumbai Indians to Royal Challengers Bangalore for Rs 17.5 crore in 2024. Eventually, the second-best trade also involved the Mumbai Indians, but this time, they paid the amount. They got back their talent Hardik Pandya from Gujarat Titans for Rs 15 crores in 2024.
IPL 2026 Trade Window: 5 Blockbuster Transfers That Could Change the Game
The following are the five biggest names in the Indian Premier League who can be traded. Some of the names might be shocking, but they can say goodbye to their former franchise and start a new chapter.
Sanju Samson
In the next season of the Indian Premier League, Sanju Samson can play for a new team, and that team can perfectly suit him. Chennai Super Kings is the team. As it is unclear whether Mahendra Singh Dhoni will play the next season, this opens the door for Sanju Samson.
Basically, he is also a perfect replacement for some years after MS Dhoni retires from the IPL, as CSK invests in experienced players. In IPL 2025, Sanju was the Rajasthan team’s captain but missed many matches due to injury. He can say goodbye to the Rajasthan Royals after 11 seasons.
Glenn Maxwell
In the previous two seasons, Maxwell has been one of the underperformers for the Punjab Kings. This season, that is IPL 2025, he just played seven matches and scored around 40 runs before he got injured and missed the other matches.
Punjab will want to part ways with the Australian all-rounder before the auction. Lucknow SuperGiants or Chennai Super Kings can be a perfect next destination for the player. The conditions of Chennai favor Maxwell, and he performs brilliantly on that ground.
Liam Livingstone
The Royal Challengers Bengaluru team purchased the English all-rounder Liam Livingstone in the previous auction. They have impressed everyone by winning their first IPL title, but they are not impressed by the performance shown by the Rs. 8.75 crore buy.
In IPL 2025, in the ten matches Liam played, he just scored 110 runs and has surely not performed up to his standards. There are two possible destinations for Liam Livingstone, and they are the Lucknow SuperGiants or the Mumbai Indians.
Venkatesh Iyer
He was one of the expensive players of the IPL 2025, and the Kolkata Knight Riders were the team that picked him. This season, Venkatesh Iyer has not performed the way that justifies his price tag.
Iyer has underperformed by just scoring 142 runs in the eleven matches he has played this season. His average is somewhat under 25, which a team doesn’t expect when they pay a huge price for the player. Sunrisers Hyderabad can be his next team.
Rishabh Pant
The most expensive purchase in IPL history was one of the flops of the IPL 2025 season. His season started as a disaster, and he did not score much in any of the matches. He got a hundred at the end of the season, but if we remove the century, he just scored 151 runs in 13 other matches. Pant was also the captain of his team.

The LSG owners are demanding, and if they feel they can part ways with Pant as they did with KL Rahul. If Pant leaves LSG, CSK can be his next perfect destination.
