First half review
Joao Pedro, the new Chelsea signing, was starting the match in the absence of another new signing, Liam Delap. He was playing against his former club, Fluminense, which was surely an emotional moment for the Brazilian. The game started the way he wanted to start, as it just took 18 minutes for him to score his first goal for Chelsea, and what a banger that was from outside the box. He decided not to celebrate, showing respect to his former club.
The second big chance came just three minutes later, and Malo Gusto’s shot didn’t cause any trouble to the Fluminense keeper. The best defensive action from Chelsea came in the 27th minute when Marc Cucurella cleared the ball from the goal line, which was an effort from the Fluminense player Hercules. Cucurella did something that explains why the defenders are paid.
Just eight minutes before the first half came the most controversial decision of the game. Fluminense were awarded a penalty for Chalobah’s handball. After checking it on the monitor, the referee overturned the decision, which was fair, in my opinion. Neto had a chance in the added time of the first half. The effort was defended well by the Fluminense centre-back, Ignacio. The score was 1-0 for Chelsea at half-time.
Second half review
Chelsea started the second half the way they ended the first half. Fluminense made some changes to their team. Just after eleven minutes into the second half, Chelsea got their second goal of the game. Enzo Fernandes passed to Joao Pedro, and he carried the ball and, once he entered the box, made a cut in. The next thing we saw was a shot that bounced off the crossbar and was inside the Fluminense goal.
He again did not celebrate to show respect to Fluminense. There was nothing more to notice in the game until the 80th minute. Nicolas Jackson won the ball and carried it all by himself, and had Cole Palmer in position to help the ball in. He decided to go all by himself and made a mess. Cole Palmer was very angry, and his reaction was very clear.
There was nothing more in the match as Chelsea won the game 2-0 and are the first team to reach the final of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup. They wait to find out who their opponent will be: Real Madrid or Paris Saint-Germain in the final.

Chelsea’s opponent will be decided in the second semi-final, which is tonight, where Paris Saint-Germain plays against Real Madrid at the same venue, MetLife Stadium. They will watch the game and understand the game of their opponents.
Both of the teams will be a threat to Chelsea in the final, as at this moment, both of them are playing good football. Chelsea will prefer Real Madrid as they are under a new manager and still adapting. Surely, you can’t write off Real Madrid at any given point. We have to admit that Paris Saint-Germain has been the best team in Europe this season. They are perfectly dominating every team they are coming up against.
