The Premier League 25/26 will start this week, and so will the FPL for this season. There are some new rules, and the FPL 2025/26 Rules are explained for all the fans. The Premier League 25/26 starts on 15th August 2025, whereas the last matchday is on 24th May 2026.
Basically, the new season will start with the defending champions Liverpool taking on AFC Bournemouth at Anfield. The IST date and timing for the match is 16th August at 12:30 AM. Eventually, the FPL deadline for the first gameweek will be 90 minutes prior to that. Mohamed Salah and Erling Haaland are the players with the most expensive price tag, £14.5m.

FPL 2025/26 Rules explained
All the FPL managers making the team for the FPL have a total of £100m as their budget, and they need to pick 15 players for the squad. The fifteen players can be broken down into: two goalkeepers, five defenders, five midfielders, and three attackers. A maximum of three players from the same team can be picked. For example, if you pick Haaland, Rodri, and Foden from Manchester City, you can’t pick any one now.
Before the deadline of the Gameweek, the players have to choose their best playing eleven. They can’t make any changes during the gameweek. Once the gameweek is over, one free transfer is given to all FPL managers. If a manager wants to make two changes and has just one free transfer, then he will have to take a -4 hit. With these, he will be allowed to make the second change, but four points will be removed from his points in the following gameweek.
There are also bonus points for each game. The best player gets three points, whereas the second-best player gets two points. Lastly, the third-best player gets one point. Goalkeepers also get bonus points for saves, as well as for saving a penalty. There is a small change in bonus points for a penalty save. Now it is eight points, as earlier it was nine.
Which New FPL 2025/26 Rules Will Give Managers Eight Chips Instead of Four
As we know, there are four chips in FPL. Wildcard, Bench Boost, Free Hit, and Triple Captain are the four chips. Basically, in Wildcard, the manager had the right to completely change his entire team. When a manager uses his bench boost chip, the gameweek counts all points from the 15 players.
The Free Hit allowed a manager to change his team for just one matchday. He gets his team back once the gameweek is over. Lastly, in the Triple Captain chip, the captain of that gameweek gets his points x3.
Till last year, the Wildcard chip was allowed to be used twice. Once before the Gameweek 19 and once after the Gameweek 19. From now on, the managers can use all the chips twice. This is surely a great thing for the FPL managers.
