The first season of the FIFA Club World Cup happened in 2000. Basically, before this edition, the FIFA Club World Cup was organised every year. When we talk about the FIFA Club World Cup Champions, Real Madrid is the team everyone talks about, as they have won it the most times. FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) manages all the activities of this competition.
This season, we saw a new format of the FIFA Club World Cup, as a total of thirty-two teams participated in the competition. There are a total of 63 games before we get the winner. The most eye-catching thing about the competition is the total prize money, which is 1 billion dollars. This tournament allows smaller teams to earn money and compete against the European giants. From now on, the FIFA Club World Cup will happen every four years, that is, one year before the FIFA World Cup.
Manchester City is the defending champions as they won the FIFA Club World Cup in 2023. They were playing Fluminense in the final at the King Abdullah Sports City Stadium in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Manchester City won the match 4-0. Julian Alvarez scored two goals, while Phil Foden scored one goal. Unfortunately, one was an own goal from Nino, the Fluminense centre back.
