Top 6 Records by Akash Deep and Karun Nair in Test Cricket You Shouldn’t Miss
Akash Deep
The boy from a small village of Bihar, Dehri, played his first test match in February of 2024. Since then, the fast bowler has played a total of nine test matches. In the nine games, he has taken a total of 26 wickets, which also holds the record among the Indian pacers. His bowling average is 32, and he has a bright future for the Indian team.
After missing out on the first Test match, he was picked for the second, replacing Jasprit Bumrah. This is how you replace a world-class bowler, picking up ten tickets in the match and getting the best bowling figures for an Indian bowler in England, 10/187. He picked up four wickets in the first inning and got six in the second. He also has the record of being one of the few Indian pacers to take 10 wickets in a match in England.
Karun Nair
The start of his career was something no one expected from him. He made his debut against England in the 3rd Test match when England were touring India in 2016. The first two games were not that good as they got out early in a few innings and did not bat in a few innings.
The fifth test match was his best performance in that test jersey for India. He scored 303 runs in the first inning of the India team, and the game also saw India’s highest team total ever. This was India’s third individual score by a player in Test cricket. The first two belong to Virendra Sehwag. He is also the youngest player to score a triple century for India. Karun Nair was just 25 years 10 days. He is in sixth place when talking about the youngest players in the world.
He was called up to play for India after almost eight years in Test Cricket. That also can be counted in the record itself. It is fair to say he did not impress with his performance and was dropped in the fourth Test against England. Surely, this was one of his last opportunities to shine.
Karun Nair records
- Only the second India to score a triple century in test cricket
- Youngest Indian to score a triple century in test cricket
- Missed the most consecutive matches between team appearances (402- includes all formats)
