First test match recap
In the first test match, England won the toss and asked India to bat first. India responded very well with three batters, Yashasvi Jaiswal, captain Shubman Gill, and vice-captain Rishabh Pant all getting centuries. After Gill’s wicket, the team just collapsed, scoring just 41 runs and losing six wickets. The total was 471. England’s Ollie Pope scored a century, whereas Harry Brook was dropped on zero, later went and scored 99 runs. In reply, England just fell short of six runs, scoring 465 runs.
India lost three wickets for 92 in the second innings. Rahul and Pant both scored centuries; unfortunately, their 197-run partnership was ended by Brydon Carse getting Rahul bowled. Pant became the 2nd wicketkeeper to score a hundred in both innings, departing on 118. The story was the same as the first inning, as the lower middle order collapsed again, scoring just 31 runs and losing five wickets after Pant’s departure. The target was 371 runs
England’s openers made a brilliant start with getting 1888 runs for the first wicket, and from there it seemed England was winning, but India got a few wickets, and England had enough time to chase it, and they did it. India’s fielding has cost the team the test match, with more than nine catches dropped in the second innings. England leads 1-0 in the five-match series.
