Why Harbhajan Singh and Shikhar Dhawan Missed World Champions League 2025 Match 4?
All the fans were eagerly waiting for the India Champions vs Pakistan Champions, as players such as Yuvraj Singh, Harbhajan Singh, Shoaib Malik, Mohammad Hafeez, and Shikhar Dhawan. It did not go as planned, and the match was called off. Shikhar Dhawan was the first person who announced that he wouldn’t be playing any match against Pakistan. This is what he had to say:
Jo kadam 11 May ko liya, uspe aaj bhi waise hi khada hoon. Mera desh mere liye sab kuch hai, aur desh se badhkar kuch nahi hota. Jai Hind!
There were some tensions between the two countries, as there was almost a war-like situation in April. India almost cancelled all the deals and supplies with Pakistan. This decision surely depends on the player, as the country always comes before any sport or trade deals, and he was on that. Eventually, other Indian stars such as Harbhajan Singh, Suresh Raina, Irfan Pathan, and Yusuf Pathan also later pulled out of the game against Pakistan.
The organisers of the World Championship of Legends were apologetic about the situation as the tickets for the game had been sold. They informed that all the money from the tickets would be given back to the fans. The organizers also send their sincere apologies to the Indian Legend Team members. This was the official statement from the World Championship of Legends:
We at WCL have always cherished and loved cricket, and our only aim has been to give fans some good, happy moments.
After hearing the news that the Pakistan hockey team will be coming to India this year, and seeing the recent India vs Pakistan volleyball match along with a few other fixtures between the two nations in different sports, we thought of continuing with the India vs Pakistan match at WCL, just to create some happy memories for people around the globe.
But maybe in the process, we ended up hurting the feelings of many and stirring emotions.More than that, we unintentionally caused discomfort to our Indian Cricket Legends, who have brought so much glory to the country, and we ended up affecting the brands who supported us purely out of love for the game. Hence, we have decided to call off the India-Pakistan match. We sincerely apologise again for hurting the sentiments and hope people will understand that all we ever wanted was to bring a few happy moments to the fans.
India still has some of the matches of the World Championship of Legends left to play. They play South Africa Legends next, followed by Australia, England, and the West Indies. One of the biggest questions will be, how will things turn out if both teams meet in the knockouts? Indian player will be on their words, and that is surely fair.
