The 17th edition of the Asia Cup had everything lined up, but now there is a big change. Basically, the Asia Cup 2025 match timings have changed. The start of the tournament is on the 8th of September, whereas the final of the Asia Cup 2025 is on the 28th of September. There are a total of eight asian teams playing the Asia Cup 2025. India, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Bangladesh got direct qualification, whereas the other three teams had to fight to come into the ACC Premier Cup. The United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, and Oman were the three teams. All the teams have started their preparation and are playing matches. The squads are also out for maximum teams.
India is the team that will defend their title as they won the last Asia Cup that happened in 2023. Mohammed Siraj was the star of the final, picking up six wickets for just 21 runs. Asia Cup 2025 match timings changed: What’s new in the updated schedule?
We will see a total of 19 matches in the Asia Cup 2025. Earlier, the local time for the match was 7 PM, whereas it was 8:30 as per the Indian Standard Time. Now, the timings for the 18 matches of the Asia Cup have been modified, and we will see an early start. The first match of the Asia Cup is on the 9th of September, where Afghanistan will play Hong Kong at the Sheikh Zayed Cricket Stadium in Abu Dhabi. Basically, the new timings for the match are 6:30 PM local time, whereas it is 8 PM as per IST.
Basically, the teams are in two groups: one is Group A and the other is Group B. All teams play once against each other, and the two top teams go to the Super Fours. The same happens in Super Four, but the top two here play in the final, and that’s how we get the winner. For each win, a match gets two points, whereas if there is no result in the match, then a point is shared.
