He just won the US Open Super 300 against Canada’s Brian Yang. Ayush Shetty’s Journey has surely just started, and he has more to deliver in the future.

Ayush Shetty’s win in the final of the US Open Super 300 finally ended India’s drought in the BWF competitions. It was a very convincing win for the 20-year-old, as he won 21-18, 21-13. The match just ended in forty-seven minutes, and he had the trophy in his bag in the 48th minute.

Ayush Shetty was born on 3rd May, 2005 in Sanoor, which is in Karnataka. He started playing badminton at the age of eight. His dad, watching him, realised that his son had the potential to become a professional tennis player. When he was 12 years old, he was shifted to Bengaluru for better coaching and was admitted to Prakash Padukone Academy.

It did not take him long to announce himself to the world. In the year 2021, when Ayush was 16years old, he won the VICTOR Denmark Junior 2021 by defeating Indonesia’s Yohanes Saut Marcellyno, 21-17 and 21-16. It showed how promising the young player is.

Ayush Shetty started his senior career journey in 2023. He was one of the players to make an impact in the BWF World Tour 2023. Ayush had a great tournament and impressed everyone by reaching the finals of the Odisha Masters Super 100. The same year, he also finished in second place in the Bahrain International Challenge and the Dutch Open.

At the start of 2025, Ayush, with a stunning performance, impressed everyone as he reached the semi-finals of the Orleans Masters. He defeated several big names such as Loh Kean Yew and Rasmus Gemke. Ayush was eventually defeated by China’s Lin Chun‑Yi in the semi-final.

He also reached the semi-finals of the Taipei Open 2025. Ayush showed a proper character in that game but was defeated by Chou Tien‑Chen.

It is said that when it’s your time, no one can stop you, and it was Ayush Shetty’s time to take the trophy home in the 2025 US Open. He won his first senior career trophy, and what can be better than winning the US Open.

Achievements So Far – US Open 2025 Journey

The win in the US Open Super 300 is the first title of Ayush Shetty’s career and also India’s first in the BWF World Tour. He faced Denmark’s Magnus Johannesen in the round of 32, where Ayush defeated him 21-17 and 21-19.

Ayush faces his fellow mate Tharun Mannepalli in the round of 16, where he won 21-12, 13-21, and 21-15. His quarter-final match was against Taiwan’s Kuo Kuan-lin. The first set was close, 22-20, whereas the second set was a cakewalk for him, winning 20-9.

Eventually, things got heated up when he faced Chou Tien‑Chen in the semi-final. Chou Tien‑Chen already defeated Ayush in 2025 at the Taipei Open. The first set went in favour of the Chinese player 23-21. It was written for Ayush to win the game as he made a comeback and won the next two sets, 21-15 and 21-14.

It was the final, and Ayush was facing Canada’s Brian Yang. This was made for Ayush to win his first senior title, and he did it in some style. The match just lasted for 47 minutes as Ayush won both sets, 21-18, 21-13.
