Why are Test heroes Gill and Siraj likely to be dropped for the Asia Cup?

As of the Asia Cup 2025 selection, Shubman Gill and Mohammad Siraj will not be featuring in the team. While both players have shown incredible performance in the Test and ODIs. However, there are valid reasons why they are not part of the team.

Shubhman has been a consistent player in both Test and ODI; however, his performance in the T20Is has been slow. Meanwhile, experts and coaches believe that he should improve his strike rate in the format. The Indian team needs a more fearless batter who scores big in the power play, and players like Abhishek Sharma and Jaiswal are better picks. But, officially, the BCCI included his name in the list as a vice captain.

On the other hand, Siraj has been continuously playing for the team in red-ball and ODI. Experts believe he should take a rest and wait for the big tournaments. In addition, India already has bowlers like Jasprit Bumrah and Arshdeep Singh, who are brilliant in the T20 format.
