5 Batsmen Can break Records in IND vs ENG 5th test
Shubman Gill
The Indian captain, Shubman Gill, has a lot of records that he can add to his name in the last test match against England, but the main thing for him would be winning and drawing the series. Gill is just 53 runs behind breaking Sunil Gavaskar’s record for the maximum runs in a series by an Indian. He can also become the first asian player to score 800 runs in a test series.
Gill needs to score 78 runs for that. He just needs 89 runs to beat Don Bradman’s record for the most runs as a captain in his first series captaining his side. Lastly, one hundred would be enough for Gill to be the Indian player with the most centuries in a series.
K L Rahul
Rahul has used every bit of his experience and shows he can bat in any condition for his team. He is the second-highest run-getter in the series. In 2018, he scored 149 runs at this venue, but unfortunately, India lost that match. Surely, Rahul needs to help his team and score runs to level the series. He has a chance to break his personal best score at this venue.
Joe Root
The previous would have been frustrating for the English players, but Joe Root had himself in the history books. Root scored 150 runs in that match in the first innings and is now the second-highest run getter in test cricket, going above Ricky Ponting. There is just the great Sachin Tendulkar ahead of him.
He will come with all the great motivation to help his team win and will play a more important role as a leader, as England’s captain, Ben Stokes, is out. Every run from here will get him closer to being the top scorer, as there is a lot to score.
Ravindra Jadeja
Jadeja is the fourth-highest run scorer of the series, and just to remind you, he plays deep in the batting line-up. He can break Pant’s score and move up, and even with the form he is in, Jadeja can finish second.
The previous match was his patience and temperament that kept him going. At the end, he finally got the century that he fully deserved. His role in this game will be immense with both bat and ball.
Jamie Smith
The wicket-keeper batsman, Jamie Smith, is the top run-getter for England in this series with 424 runs in seven innings. He scored 184 runs in the second test at the Edgbaston Cricket Ground.
He also has the record for scoring the fastest 1000 runs in test cricket, along with Quinton de Kock. Smith has shown his potential and needs to bring the best performance for his team in the last test.
