We are back with the fifth season of the Leagues Cup. The starting date of the Leagues Cup 2025 is the 29th of July. While the date for the final is 31st August, and the venue will be confirmed soon. Eventually, the Leagues Cup 2025 Schedule is out. Canada and the United States are the hosts of the Leagues Cup 2025.
There are a total of thirty teams participating in the competition. Eighteen teams from Major League Soccer, whereas the other eighteen are from Liga MX, which is a top division of Mexican Football. Certainly, the best three teams in the competition get a place in the CONCACAF Champions Cup.
In the previous edition of the Leagues Cup, which happened in 2024, Columbus Crew were the champions. This was their first League Cup title. They defeated Los Angeles FC in the final with a scoreline of 3-1. Cucho Hernandez opened the scoring for the Columbus Crew in the 45th minute. Olivier Giroud responded with an equalizer in the 57th minute. It was Cucho Hernandez who scored in 90+2 minutes and made it 2-1. Two minutes later, Orlando Russell-Rowe scored the third goal for Columbus Crew, and they won 3-1.

Leagues Cup 2025 Schedule
The first match of the Leagues Cup 2025 was between Deportivo Toluca Futbol Club and the defending champions, the Columbus Crew. All the teams play a total of three matches, and we have three matchdays before going to the knockouts. Basically, after the third matchday, the top four teams qualify for the quarter-finals, followed by the semi-finals and finals.
Basically, the four quarter-finals are on 19th August and 20th August. Eventually, the Semi-finals are on 26th August and 27th August. We have the third-place match on the 31st of August, and the final is also on the same day.

Leagues Cup: Teams and Points Table
As we know, there are a total of eighteen teams in the competition from two leagues. Basically, the top eighteen teams from Major League Soccer can have a chance to play in the League Cup. We will see Lionel Messi’s Inter Miami play in the tournament, and they have also won it once. At the same time, as there are just 18 teams in the Liga MX, all of them qualify. Sergio Ramos’ Monterrey is also playing in the competition. At some point, we can see Lionel Messi against Sergio Ramos.
The points distribution of the League Cup is different. Every win in under 90 minutes, the winning team gets three points. If the teams win the game in the penalty shoot-out, they get two points. This is not it; the loser of the penalty shoot-out gets one point. Let us have a look at the points table:
