The BWF World Junior Championships is a badminton tournament organised for the under-19s. Badminton World Federation (BWF) manages the tournament. This is the 25th edition. The venue for the BWF World Junior Championships 2025 is India. As of today, the exact dates are not confirmed, but the tournament will be in the month of October.
Just like last time, we will see a new relay format in the BWF World Junior Championships 2025. The events in this edition will include men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and obviously mixed doubles as well.

In the last edition, the following players won the gold medals. Hu Zhean won the men’s singles, whereas Xu Wenjing won the women’s singles. The men’s doubles was won by Kang Khai Xing and Aaron Tai, while Ririna Hiramoto and Aya Tamaki. Lastly, Lin Xiangyi and Liu Yuanyuan were the mixed doubles champions.
BWF World Junior Championships 2025 Venue Host Country
This is the first time since the 2008 BWF World Junior Championship that India will be the host for the competition. The Badminton World Federation (BWF) shook hands with the Badminton Association of India (BAI), which made the event possible in India. This is what the BWF president, Poul-Erik Hoyer, had to say
India’s production line of elite badminton talent is booming, and it is of great significance for the BWF to bring our World Juniors to India for just the second time.
The city of Guwahati is the place where the matches will take place. National Centre of Excellence is the exact venue for the BWF World Junior Championship 2025. It has a total of 16 courts. The venue is managed by the Sports Authority of India (SAI). It is a place where the athletes trained, and a wide variety of sports facilities are provided to everyone. The tournament starts in October; the full schedule will be out once the dates are confirmed.
Key Details Revealed by Badminton World Federation (BWF)
Just like the last edition, which was held in the Nanchang International Sports Center, China. The format is the same. There will be a relay format of best of three sets; whichever team reaches forty-five points first wins the set. Each set includes five matches from the men’s singles, women’s singles, men’s doubles, women’s doubles, and mixed doubles.
This innovation is important in the game day by day, as it keeps the fans more interested and connected to the game. The secretary general of BWF, Thomas Lund, said this in the press conference:

The broader goal remains to modernise badminton in ways that protect athlete wellbeing while making the sport even more exciting and engaging for global audiences.
